The Thartse lineage belongs to the Ngor subsect of the Sakya Tradition.
The establishment of the Ngor Tradition dated back to the founder Vajradhara Ngorchen Kunga Zangpo. Presently, the seat of the Ngorpa is at Manduwala, India. It consists of four Labrangs (the Luding, the Thartse, the Kangsar and the Pende) The Abbot of the Thartse Labrang is Thartse Shabdung, Ngawang Sonam Chokden. He was enthroned as the Khenpo of the Centre in 2001.H.E. Thartse Khen Rinpoche shares his duty of running the Ngorpa Centre, and giving Teaching overseas, with the present H.E. Luding Khen Rinpoche. H.E. Thartse Khen Rinpoche studied in Puruwala Sakya Institute for six years, before he completed his final year in Sakya College . He was conferred the degree in Puruwala. His ritual training was done in Ngor Monastery in Manduwala. |
